Severn Man Launded for Work On Bridge has Played Key Role in $2.4 Billion Project

Since 2000, Gil Parker has played a key role in the reconstruction of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, a $2.43 billion project that replaces the 1.1-mile structure over the Potomac River.

As a compliance specialist for the Maryland Department of the Environment, the 59-year-old Severn resident has performed numerous inspections on permits related to the project including ones for sediment, stormwater and removing stream blockages in the Anacostia River Drainage Basin. He also provides technical assistance for contractors working on the bridge, one of the largest construction projects under way in the nation.
