Insufficient evidence led prosecutors to drop assault and robbery charges yesterday against a two-time Maryland wrestling champion and two of his former North County High School classmates.

"After great diligence and investigation, unfortunately the state cannot move forward in this case," Assistant State's Attorney Brooke McKay said during a hearing in Annapolis. "The victim in this case has given numerous inconsistent statements that the state, we don't believe, would be able to rehabilitate or repair."
