As quiet as a 9-year-old boy could be, Sider crossed onto Amberly Road and poked his head high enough to see something few had in 1964. There, standing as high as he could see, was Joe Papetti, directing traffic on Glen Burnie's football field.

Sider sat still, hoping no one would catch his wandering eyes.

"He was such a mountain of a man," Sider said. "I was scared of him."
