Outdoors; Rockfish Anglers Worm Way Into More Action On Chesapeake

Summary


The May worm hatch came late last week and slowed fishing in more than a few places, but it appears to have eased off. Some chummers say they are again catching stripers whose stomachs carry none of the red worms.

The rockfish caught recently at the Dumping Grounds aboard Capt. Kevin Kuhne's charterboat Koon Dog had no worms in it's belly. It would have taken many to fill it. The fish, caught by South Dakota's Joe Crister was 48 inches long, weighed 44 pounds at the Dumping Grounds - one of the top fish reported since the trophy season ended in mid month.
