Summary
It came out of nowhere, low and swift, sailed past us, pitched next to a Bay Bridge piling near the Stone Pile, held its head high and looked around. Ordinarily, I would have thought it was midsummer, or I was in Florida, but I knew better. What was a pelican doing up this way on seventh of January?
The same thing that Charlie Ebersberger, Warren Zinck, his son Skip, and I were doing: Fishing. Outdoors; Healthy Rockfish Still Hanging Around
I don't know how the pelican did, it stuck around for 15 minutes before going farther south, but in four hours of jigging primarily with Sting Silvers we caught and released 25 rockfish and five white perch. The perch weren't big enough for a fish fry - and the best of the stripers was about 12 inches long. ...
