Man Gets 18 Extra Months in Fatal Crash

A Laurel man who keeps driving without a license was sentenced yesterday to an additional 18 months in jail for a fatal 2003 car crash that claimed the life of a woman who had graduated eight days earlier from Glen Burnie High School.

Arthur Truitt, 57, was convicted in 2005 of auto manslaughter in the June 7, 2003, death of 19-year-old Laura Smith near BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but released in September 2007 after amassing more than two years of good-time credits.
