A group of Algebra I students at Lindale Middle School has learned how to handle stress - all while enjoying themselves and putting their best engineering skills to good use.

The 11 students in Michele Brown's seventh-grade algebra class competed in the first Transportation and Civil Engineering design and build competition sponsored by the State Highway Administration. Their challenge: Build a bridge out of matchsticks that could withstand the most weight.
