Every two years a new national chicken cook is crowned to the tune of $100,000. The 2005 winner, chosen May 13 at a cook-off in Charlotte, N.C. is Camilla V. Saulsbury of Bloomington, Ind.

Her winning entry is titled, "Mahogany Broiled Chicken with Smoky Lime Sweet Potatoes and Cilantro Chimichurri." But don't let the title overwhelm you or, for that matter, the list of ingredients.

According to the judges, the spicy flavors blended well and "came together on the palate."

Since I attended the 46th National Chicken Cooking Contest where this recipe was picked over 51 entries, I can only repeat what the judges told me - this recipe was far and above the best.
