Summary


My husband will retire from the federal government in the summer. He'll be 66 years old. We're trying to decide whether to sign up for Medicare Part B or not, since the plan we have with the Federal Employees Health Benefit Plan (FEHBP) is such good coverage.

I know that picking up Medicare won't change the cost of our plan, and we'll have to pay the Part B premium in addition to that premium cost. We are considering the fact that our plan has co- payments and deductibles that the FEHBP would cover for us as a secondary insurance to Medicare. We think that we can deduct our medical expenses from our income tax, too. Do you have any advice?
