Summary


There was a time, about 50 to 100 years ago, that Chesapeake Beach was the Ocean City of Maryland.

In fact, it was founded by the Washington and Chesapeake Bay Railway Company in 1894 as a resort destination. Trains from the city would bring tourists and vacationers by the thousands to this spot directly on the Chesapeake Bay where there were hotels, a carousel and other amusement attractions.
