Chesapeake's Ian Sylvester earned top honors at 14th annual The Friends of Joe Cannon Stadium Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie on Sunday night.
All senior baseball players around the county were eligible and a player from each of the 16 public and private high schools, who also excelled in the classroom was honored. The top three honorees received scholaships. Sylvester was awarded a $3,000 scholarship.
